Blueprint of a Novel

Good Morning

I was researching 'Blueprints of a Novel.' Some of you may call these storyarcs, story arcs, or story archs. I find any type of storyboard and plotting interesting, and it amazes me how many people find this an agonizing topic.

Many writers love to write without plotting, creating a story board, or a story arch. My students often complain about the amount of time my courses spend focusing and teaching writers how to plot, outline, and manage their story lines. In response I am apt to laugh, and then soberly invite them to search the Internet on their own fact finding mission.

Writers who have articles on plotting, often have several novels published. Writers who do not focus on plots, subplots, and novel blueprints, are often unpublished - or have small publishers.

Even e-books are becoming more formulated in their structure. Not that I believe all writers need to concentrate on the formula novel, especially the formula romance novel. But, I do believe that authors need to be taught how to give the publishers what they want, what they need, and what they can sell.

So, today I have been looking for resources to add to inspiredauthor that will help students. I am also looking for links to add to my courses (you can find links to these on the homepage of inspiredauthor, near the bottom).

I am having fun, before I start the real work of the day. (I am building a website called www.shop-huron.com. I am also putting the final touches on www.authorsconnection.com.

I will let you know when both of these websites are on line. I will also let you know when my own online school of business and writing is ready to be online.
