Killing Myself

It is starting again. I just cannot seem to overcome these dreaded dealines. Last night I worked until 3 am on. I also worked on http://www.authorsconnection.com/. The most frustrating thing was waiting for the server to continually connect.
Last night I could have screamed. The web was so slow I could play a complete game of cards while each page loaded ... and I won't tell you what I did when I had to wait when I realized that I'd made a mistake.
Dan was at a networking meeting. Promoting the business is a lot more fun than doing the work. I somehow feel ripped off that I am stuck in my little dungeon while he dresses up and enjoys wine and cheese parties, and smoozing with other business owners.
So, here I go again. I am still caughing up my lungs from bruning myself out last Feb. You'd think I would know better, but that is the life of a writer.
It amazes me how many people think I don't work, because I am at home, and because I am a writer/editor. I picked up an editing assignment - a couple more bills paid. However, now I need to find the time to get the work done. It takes about 30 hours to properly edit a good book. That means editing it, not just checking the grammar and sentence composition. Well, I don't do anything from about 1 am to 8 am most nights, that is lots of time to finish this editing assignment. At least this author knows about story arcs, plot mistakes, character outlines, and the blueprint of a novel, so I don't expect to find any drastic plot holes, unresolved plots, or other stupid mistakes. This book is also being submitted to Canadian publishers, so I can use the grammar style I grew up with. ...Hope that makes the job easier.
You'd think at 42 I'd have learned something. Like how to say no. Am I a glutton for punishment? Probably, but I like to pretend I am a type E personality with a drive to succeed. Which reminds me, I am teaching a course tomorrow ( How to Start a Business ) and I haven't created the lesson plan. I know this week's topic is advertising methods and medium, comparing them, discussing them, explaining them, but I haven't put together any visual aids for people in this township.
I guess I could do that while I am eating supper tonight.
I gave up multi-tasking a long time ago. You know what? It doesn't work. I get a lot more done when I focus on one topic. My motto now is "Do one job at a time and do it right the first time." It works for me, but I still don't seem to have enough time.
Oh well, it beats working at Walmart. LOLOL....

So, why am I up so late. Why, I am working on a book of course. Working title "Are You Ready to Submit: Writer's Guide to Self Editing" or maybe "Is Your Manuscript Ready to Submit?" I don't know, what do you think? Let me know.

I will also have a historical romance coming out in the summer, cool.
