There is more to my life than work.
My son is now sixteen, a time when he wants to drive. I took one look at the yearly insurance costs and told him he wasn't driving until he could afford the costs. What I'd like to know is why teen automotive insurance is cheaper in the USA.
I was searching and found the GEICO site has added "Teens and Trucks" to its online library of safe driving materials for teen drivers. The brochure, includes valuable information for teens on how to safely share the highway with large trucks.
This hit home with me. Last weekend, four boys in our area died when they crashed into a truck. It wasn't a transport, but it was big enough to stop their car and send them flying forward at unimaginable speeds.
The GEICO teen safe driving Web site is located at http://www.geico.com/auto/safety.
The driving tips on the GEICO site includes tips for safe highway driving around large trucks: * Stay out of a truck's blind spots or "No Zones."* Be careful when attempting to pass a truck.* Do not swerve in front of a truck or cause the driver to come to asudden stop.* Avoid "Squeeze Play" when a large truck needs to make a wide turn.* Do not cut off a large truck or passenger bus.
We are in a rural area that links to major cities - there is no way to drive without encountering trucks. We loose so many young people each year on these highways. I know that insurance is high, but as a parent, I am glad - it keeps my son off the highway.
