I have heard people state that each of these grammar styles were the one, true, universal style of grammar. This, even though the main three (New York, Chicago, and AP) contradict each other on several key points.
I grew up under the British style of grammar, and was published several times before being told that clauses and phrases were, well, to put it bluntly, not acceptable anymore.
I was recently told that my grammar style was horrible, despite the fact this person could not find any one thing they could conclusively label as a grammar error. Okay, so I ramble. And, there are those stupid words stuck at the beginning of my sentences.
I just have one question. If a university is going to state, with absolute singularity, that their grammar style is the only correct one in the world, shouldn't they at least check and see if anyone else uses their style?
PS. Don't tell the Grammar Nazi about this post - or any of my friends - or my mom ....
