A lot of writers have focused on the current debate over immigration. The government seems ready to increase the stakes. They are now introducing the need for a dna test for immigration.
I've stayed out of the debate, more or less, until now. I am divided on this issue. First, I believe that it may reduce the number of people who come to the country illegally and end up working in slave conditions. However, it makes me wonder about human rights. For example, if a man finds out that his son is not his son, will he leave the child (and maybe his wife) in the old country?
This issue does raise some serious questions. Yes, we need to protect our society, our jobs, and our economy - but at what cost.
