Writing on Important Topics

I've spent the last few months writing for a home decorating website. That site has enough content for the time, and I have some spare time to work on other projects. One of the best aspects of writing is that I learn so much. I never knew about silk wallpaper, or some of the lovely furniture on today's market.

I only learned this stuff when writing about decorating and home furniture. I never chose this niche. It just grew out of my writing.

I often tell writers that they need to build a niche, but that doesn't mean that they need to force 'create' a niche. Some niche's just burst upon you. They just happen. There is a saying that 'life happens when you least expect it.' Writing is the same.

If you don't have a niche, then research home and garden, and other niches...but wait until you find one that you love before you force yourself to write about a dry boring topic.
