How to Succeed as a Writer

The one mistake that most writers make is following the old niches. I am sorry, but if you are just starting out, and are not making $2000 a month writing, then you shouldn't be writing about the topic of writing, SEO, Internet Marketing, or other 'skilled' topics.

Writers spend months learning their trade, working for $.01 a word, and end up believing that freelance writing, or working as a work at home writer, is a scheme or scam. Insted, it was their own inexperience that cost them their opportunity and careers.

Why not build a niche and write something that is needed, but no one else is writing about. It doesn't matter what it is: raising ADD children, raising gifted children, vacationing in your home state, cooking for diabetics, anger management, drug rehabilitation, anything - just pick a niche that you can excell at.

I made $2,000 in my first month of freelance writing, but it wasn't because of a niche--it was luck. Luck, and reading The Secret-like quotes from time to time, is the best tool for starting out. If only I could bottle it and sell an e-book on the concept of luck. Ooh, I'll be right back.;)
