Slice of Life - Modernization of Mennonite Farms

I live in Mennonite country. It may seem idyllic. Horse drawn buggies filling the highways on a Sunday after noon. Boys and men gleaning the fields at harvest time. Buying our vegetables from a German speaking woman - and then waiting while they are dug from the ground.

But, it is also an amazing glimpse at 'change.' The old farms have no hydro, but they do have steel buildings. The logic is sound. Steel buildings have a 30 year warranty, and they are used for everything from fishing huts to hobby farms, to large cattle barns. It would make sense.

However, it sometimes looks odd to see a pair of harnessed horses and plow outside a steel barn, milk house, or even garage.
