Art in the Park

One of the most important aspects of writing is the willingness to enrich your life. Too many writers refuse to read, travel, meet people, or take in cultural events. It doesn't take too long before their writing is as dry and lifeless as their lives. There is more to writing than 'surviving' behind the computer.

The world is full of cultural adventures. My favorite is the art tours. They are everywhere if you take the time to look, and some are very large. Here is an example. The St. Augustine Artwalk event on the first Friday and Saturday of every month from 5 to 9pm. It featuers exhibits, music, entertainment and refreshments at over 20 participating galleries with Sightseeing Trains and Old Town Trolleys shuttling attendees to the galleries - free.

Type in the name of a city - and a cultural event. I am sure that you'll not only find something entertaining to do, you'll have something to write about. Galleries are a great source of inspiration. Except that you want to spend way more than you can afford. But sometimes, it is just nice to spend the weekend walking through the shops and seeing the art.

I do this about three times a year. I always have one 'walk' around Christmas time. Mainly to see the decorations and buy one new decoration for my collection.
