I am always telling people to use their H1, H2, H3 titles, and to use keywords in the title and the first two sentences following the title. I am constantly preaching the importance of keyword anchored 'hyper links.' And, I have been preaching about good code - not databases that search engines cannot read. Now, I have proof to back up my theories. Actually, less than three hours ago I gave an online lecture on writing a good web article.
Google receives 60% of all searches. This means they are THE search engine to use. The problem is, they are constantly evolving, so staying on the top is difficult. However, even if you are not a 'social SEO' fanatic, Google is noticing good code and reputable SEO practices.
Type the Search Term flowers. The #1 result is 1800flowers.com. But, Google's new accessible search tool, the number one sit is tesco.com/flowers, #2 is ProFlowers, #3 is Dot Flowers. 1800flowers.com doesn't even make the first page. Now, using your view source tool, you'll notice that all three of these are well coded, SEO optimized websites.
Type 'online marketing' into the search bar, you get our old friend search engine marketing firm Usweb.com of 'blogitive' fame. But, they are actually a SEO company that uses 'natural optimization' to help their clients receive high ranks for keywords in the Internet's leading search engines and directories (Google, Inktomi, Yahoo, AOL, MSN, etc.).
What does this mean for bloggers? In the new system, blogs will rank higher because they use simpler coding methods.
