How to Handle a Freelance Writing Job Part 3: Ethics

Ethics

Ethics is a tricky topic. Writers come from multiple cultures. They work for clients who expect different codes of conduct. In north America, it is okay to be bold and demanding. This is considered abrasive and ill mannered in other countries. However, it is a matter of perspectives.

Someone from another country might not 'have' enough money to pay more. In their country, $5.00 might be an entire day's wages. So, when you ask for $25.00 to write an article - they are horrified.

This is why it is important to write a clear, clean bid. Tell the client exactly what they will get. Here is an example

Request:

Need a 20 page ebook on affiliate marketing

Bid:

I can write a 20 page book on affiliate marketing covering : how to get started, where to advertise, search engine optimization, avoiding costly mistakes, and why most people consider affiliate marketing a scam. I write 250 - 300 words a page and include a boarder on the page. My title page is formatted with a 24 pt title with about 250 words on the page. By books include bullet lists and exercises at the end to help the reader apply the knowledge.
