The main point I made I am making in this series is that if you write good content then you will be paid more than $5.00 an hour. Or, if you cannot write 2000 words in an hour on a topic, maybe you shouldn't be writing on that topic. However, I want to drop the 'how to write topic' and discuss promotion.
Freelance Writer's Profiles
This brings us to the topic of freelance writer's profiles. Most writers think these are a waste of their time. Clients do not.
A freelance writer's profile is the difference between being paid $10 an hour and $25 an hour. The experienced clients do not put up projects to bid. They watch to see who is willing to work, who receives good reviews, and who has been around. I have found that the magic number is six months.
When I receive an 'invite' from an agent or a new client, there is often a reference to the writing samples in my profile.
I have several profiles that give different perspectives on my writing abilities:
The romance/self editing section of www.inspiredauthor.com
This blog
www.squidoo.com/gracepub
www.todaybooks.com
www.ifreelance.com under gracepub
I have a few more, but the ifreelance one is a good example to help freelance writers get started.
