I remember belonging to one critique group where someone totally trashed my book. I rewrote the book - and ruined it. I eventually sent an original version to a publisher, and they accepted it.
I thought I was over being angry, but I guess I'm not. Today I heard about a friend who tossed a great book in the garbage after people in her critique group trashed it. They made her doubt her writing abilities. Who are these people? I asked, and she said that none of them were published. Even if someone has a Masters in English, what gives them the right to tell me how to write? After all, Mark Twain broke all the rules.
This is my Pet Peeve. Why does one person feel they have the right to stomp on another person's love of writing. Maybe there are mistakes in my writing - so what.
Angry at that person - still!
