Getting Hubby To Support Your Business

I am going to start this blog with a true story that explains the purpose of this blog.

I had a friend in Kitchener, Ontario who owned one of the best online Quilting stores. She started her store before anyone knew about ebay or shopping carts. She also took university courses to help her learn the art of managing a business.

I owned a large house cleaning company. We met one day when one of my girls took a sick day. I was cleaning her house when she was home and we started chatting.

She inspired me to explore the Internet world.

A few months later she phoned and told me that she had to discontinue the service. It seemed, that even though her income was higher than her husband's, and her four sons would not clean up after themselves, that her HUSBAND decided they couldn't afford the house cleaning any more. In her words "He wants to cut out all the unnecessary expenses."

This stunned me. This woman had three house cleaners in her house for four hours. That is twelve hours. How could this man expect his wife to do twelve hours of physical labor, and then keep up her university studies and businesses.

I started looking around. Another one of my clients ran a full time home daycare center with five toddlers in her home five days a week from 6am to 7pm. Her husband worked in a city. He arrived home at eight each night and often worked Saturday. She snuck house cleaning into her schedule without his knowledge as well as lawn mowing. Her husband became infuriated when he found out and cancelled both services. He determined that she should do the lawn work, house cleaning, shopping, and car care - and here is the clincher - she also needed to work to 'earn her keep.'
