In 1983 the President of Harvard university's words about women not being able to excel because they couldn't tax their bodies to reproduce and become intellectual was almost repeated by Harvard's President last year who stated that women 'lacked ability'
Well, I am here to say that is crap. We are doing the job - now that we have the opportunity to open our own businesses.
However, to succeed, we need to face the fact that men will not change because we succeed. Many of them would rather see us miserable than change the status quo.
So, there are a few ways to handle this situation.
Strategy One
Do your own house keeping and mow the lawn, and then get a local 'girl Friday' or virtual secretary to do your paperwork, bookkeeping etc. These are expenses your husband will understand.
Strategy Two
You can hire someone to help you 'in house.' We had this work well, that way someone could do typing, web work, etc., while you handled more domestic issues.
Some men may also consider house work as a business expense once you explain that you can write of part of the expense.
Strategy Three
Implementing a system where everyone helps with the housework doesn't really work. I know a lot of people who try, but unless they see an immediate reward the scheme will never work.
However, it could be time to teach your teen son how to do his own laundry. And, you could have a room in the basement where you can vanish from the world. Make this room far (far) away from the television room so their plea for mom to get them a snack go unheard.
Learning to work with a headset on also works well.
Strategy Four
Make a deal with your hubby. XX% of the revenue goes to bills. XX% of the revenue goes to operating expenses. Last, XX% of the money is yours, to spend how you want.
