The Parent Trap

I've been talking lately about parenting and working at home. There is a lot of guilt associated with work at home. Even though most women can make more money working at home, there is still the pressure to get a real job. My father doesn't get it. I make twice what I would from a 'real' job, but he is always asking 'when are you going back to work.'

I am not the only one. I have several friends who recount similar stories. Their husbands do not understand why they don't have dinner on the table. I know one woman who took a $10 000 a year pay cut to go back to work - but 'now' her husband is complaining because they don't have any money -as if this is HER fault.

The trick is to keep the money separate, in a paypal.com account. Do not let the family see it until you make a deposit into the bank. If you take your work at home money and 'bleed' it into school supplies, groceries, cough medicine, and vacations - your family will never be able to see what you are doing and how valuable your contribution to the family is.
