I make a good living as a freelance writer – but I don’t make as much as I can. I have written dozens of articles listing the things writers do that ruin their reputation and ruin their careers. One thing that I usually avoid because most writers cannot change that is an education.
If I had a university education, I could list at guru.com and make twice what I am making now. Not that I am not making good money. I am the sole income earner in our family, and we are not suffering. Still, it would be nice to have a cottage, a new car, a better house.
Online universities are making it possible to get an education. I have considered going to school at an online university . Some have been in business for more than 10 years, like Capella. They also offer flexible schedules – which I would need.
If you can go to university – do. It may not make you a better writer, but it will help you get better writing jobs.
